Well, the first tow trip with this thing is in the bag. It was a little over 500 miles and it ran like a top. I had no problems at all with it. It was happiest running just under 75, which stands to reckon seeing this thing was built when the national speed limit was 55. Haha

2500 rpm on the tach was right in it's happy place. It just motored down the highway and only kicked out of OD one time. Headlights are weak, actually the low beams are weak, but the high beams are pretty darn good.

Fuel mileage was as expected. It got between 8-9 mpg. Seating was comfy but I really need to get the cruise control working. My knee was really tired of holding the gas pedal!

We left town at 5:30 in the morning and arrived at about 10:15 at the track. Weather was cool, the wind made it kind of cold outside but it was good air for performance.

Buick v. Ford was fun. Jake had a good day with his '14 Mustang running a best of 11.95 @ 123 with a 1.97 60 foot. Once he gets the 60 foot down, that thing will go high 10's easy.

I broke the 83 backing it off the trailer. I hung the exhaust backing it off and ripped one of the slipfit header tubes apart. After quite a struggle, I was able to get it sorta fixed. Then the car was acting like it had a dead miss. I drove it around and.it was running terrible. I messed with it, then chose to just park it and enjoy the event.

Ford won in a landslide. We loaded everything up and made tracks towards Amarillo. Stopped for gas in Weatherford and grabbed a bite to eat. We talked about the fun we had and future plans. The girl Jake has been seeing came along for the adventure and seemed to have a good time. They sure logged a lot of miles. CoS to Amarillo, to OKC, to Amarillo, and back to CoS.

We pulled into Amarillo at about 11:30 p.m. and I was worn out and ready to hit the hay!

My buddy that bought my 73 F250that we called the Nanner was there. He is really taking it to the next level with a turbo 347 setup. This was the first time he had added the track and it's best run was 10.07 at 134. It definitely has a 9-second pass in it as the 60 ft times were in the 1.5 range. No doubt they'll get it there.

If you wonder about the condition of America's highway system just take a ride in a '90s F350. As my dad would say, "it will churn your butter".

Holy cow Oklahoma, what the heck? I think I may have chipped a tooth. It's like driving on a dirt road at 75 mph in the dark. Crazy rough.

I get home, unload the car and it is acting fairly normal. I make a few laps around the parking lot (holy cow the new tb has instant throttle response!) and do a couple of launches on the slicks and flat out rips. Thinking maybe the miss might have been a lean condition because of the low elevation and cool temps. Oh well. O2 was reading lean at the track but that was also the header that got damaged, so I didn't really want to trust the gauge.

Glad to hear the truck ran good for you but it sucks that you had troubles with the Mustang and couldn't race it!!What's the specs on Jakes Mustang does it have a power adder?Do you have any under hood pictures of Jakes car or your old truck?Thanks

Jake's car has a VMP blower. Car has a manual trans and it runs good.

Glad to hear you had a good trip and got to go Racing with your Son. Tell him Thank's for his Service for me.

On the Stang I wonder if the header may have been Leaking, Throwing the Computer Timing Fuel Curve off?

You Old 1973 F250 with a 347 Turbo going Low 10's Really Inspire's me on my F250 BBF Project.

I may/will Skip the Cage on Mine, Until/If it gets Deep Into the 10's Though. Racing Seat and Harness is Yes!

Since I am running a Dual Plane Dual Quad Intake with two 325HP Nitrous Plates a Crazy Idea popped into my Head.

I won't mention it until I look into it further but on the small pills it may be possible. I would have to run four solenoids though. If it blows up it's a low buck gamble anyway.

With Cal Trac's It Will Likely Take the all the 150/175HP Shot I Plan, on This Engine, with 33"X16.5"X15" Slicks Anyway Out The Gate.

Then when/if it Blows, the 472 Forged Piston PI Engine would have to go in.

You Rig and Vintage Stang go Well Together and I Dig simple Rigs and Open Trailers for Grass Roots Racing. Cool

On your old 1973 F250 did the new owner keep the 3/4 rear end and the rest of the 3/4 Suspension components?

Any Idea of It's Current Race Weight?

He Must Have one Nasty High Boost 347 to go 10.07 with it. Cool

It has the bumpside 9" housing (3" narrower than a dentside housing) we put in it along with split mono springs and caltracs.

I think he said it was 3600? I can't remember.

It's a spare parts 347 on E85. I think his target boost is ~20 psi.

With That Said I am Still Trying to Wrap My Head Around an All Steel 1973 Ford F250 Weighing 3,600 Lbs.

I Guess Anything's Possible  Suspect  But Wow  Wink  

I have not Scaled the 85 250 but I would think 5,500 Plus. We Shall See Shortly.

I Had The Blue Prints Somewhere Around to Fab My Own Caltracs if I can Find it Back. Budget Build You Know and All. This is the Cheapist Hot Rod I have Ever Lucked Into So For. I Mean Stupid Kinda Cheap!

Probably Cheaper Then Flip's "Slut" Type Cheap, RIP pale  I Wish He Would Have Stuck Around, Seemed Like a Good Dude.

Mono Leaf, I Almost Forgot About that and They Used to make Fiberglass or some non metal stuff for the Vette's Way Back When. That's a Major Weight Loss There. Cool

The comfy shifts of the E4OD were starting to give me the willies. It shifted fine, just a little too soft for my tastes.

I decided to do the resistor mod and add 2 10w 50 ohm resistors to the EPC solenoid circuit. Less current to the EPC = higher line pressure in the trans.

Wow. It made a huge difference. Trans shifts GREAT now. It is quick without being abrupt. I am very very pleased and it only cost me $3.49. haha.

Picked up a louvered tailgate for it. Wrong color but it's a nice piece. I think this truck used to have one because it already has the latch brackets.
