Early Bronco Midplate Empty Early Bronco Midplate

I have a 1/4" Aluminum motor plate, stock ZF motor mount and will be installing limiters. My question is, do I need a midplate? It's a hopped up 429, ZF 5-speed/NP205 in a Fiberglass '66 Bronco. It will seriously be a pain to mount it, but I will if absolutely necessary. Anyone have have opinions?

Sounds like it's intended to be flogged. I'd use the midplate.

I erred on the safeside and went with midplate mounts. Was a pain in the butt to fabricate, but they're done now.

Just an option but you can do some hiem joints with tubing to the transmission bolts as long as they are angled upward on both sides. I've done that before where a midplate is near impossible to get in. Frees up a lot of room. I'd upgrade to grade 8 bolts however.

That would have been a much easier idea.Smile But I'm all done now. The bolt that secures it throuh the frame is also where a 1/2" heim joint will go for the limiter.Smile
