I've seen early heads cut to 65 cc, no problems at 14 to 1 cr

OP, and anyone else, when you say A460 heads, are you talking about Trick Flow A460 heads, or is there another A460 head that I'm not aware of?

If you do, be prepared to deal with intake manifold fitment and valve to piston issues.

Actually there is only one "A460" head. Ford's M-6049-A460. All of the others are A460 style heads.

I'm surprised you don't know this.

there was other A460 type heats know as Extreme Machine EX 514 and IDT 460 heads. They are not made today.

Gotcha. My friend has the EX514's. I'm not used to so many different heads being referred to as "A460". This is how I'd end up buying the wrong crap if I'm not careful, lol

The "A460" and your friends EX514 heads are a similar style head, in that they are completely different architecture than a stock type head.
The stock style heads have round intake ports and are a relatively low entry angle into the port.
The A460 as well as the B, C, D, and E460 stuff is raised square/rectangle port and raised square port exhaust.

This is a stock type of head. This one is an Edelbrock^^^

This one is a totally different animal. The A460 style head.

There's no mistaking those. So the SCJ aluminum heads I just put on that Torino would be considered a "stock" type head?

Stock type of architecture, yes. That means factory, and common aftermarket parts will bolt on to those heads...like intakes, headers, etc.
The A460 heads need a dedicated A460 intake, and either modified BBC headers, or custom built.

OP, sorry to thread jack a little, I hope you don't mind.

So that makes sense, the stock architecture bit, because the intake gaskets I installed like they were made for the SCJ's. One thing I noticed when looking for an intake was some said "will not fit CJ". I knew the TF A460's require the TF intake, or something custom made, but back to stock stuff, is there any obvious visual port difference between the CJ and non-CJ head?

Yes. This motor has the standard 'small port' passenger car heads.

And this is an updated aluminum version of the factory iron CJ/SCJ head.
