M-6345-A Stud length concern

I'm installing a rear pickup tube and am replacing the cap bolt with an M-6345-A stud.

I am very concerned there is not enough thread engagement. The original bolt is about 3.925 under head whereas the stud is 3.475.

With the cap, the stud only threads in what seems only a few revolutions. As I understand, a bolt should be at least as deep as its diameter. There is no way it threads in 1/2".

I would appreciate some advice, i am not comfortable assembling it like that. No way.

If your measurements are correct ... you have the wrong fastener/stud.
Sounds as if it is a 351W main bolt/stud.

It was to my understanding the M-6345-A replaced the C6TZ-6345-A. Is that incorrect?

That is incorrect, M-6345-A that is a 302/35W part number. If Lem sees this I'm sure he knows the correct part number and more than likely stocks that part at his dealership.

D9HZ-6345-A is the part # for the 429-460 bolt.

Well, i guess its good news is that i have the correct part number. The bad news is i have a stud i dont need and an engine laying belly up waiting for it.

I knew the correct number(s) , but was told this is the same part. I can tell you...it's NOT.


So..anybody need a 351W stud?!
