I thought I had an intake gasket leak at the bash last month but it turns out a lot worse. I should have taken advice from Keith and Randy before I pulled the intake and pressurized it but I didn't so now I'm in it for another set of gaskets. Laughing i filled it with water before I started it and as it did at the race it filled #5 before I even tried starting it. I pulled the top off the intake and put air psi to the cooling system and whata ya know! I have no idea why this happened but it's leaking like sob! It's aluminum so, it can be fixed. Just not a simple fix.

I Hope it can be welded. I still have to pull it off and have a closer look but most likely the seat will need replacing. Suspect

pretty much anything aluminum can be fixed. If no body else will do it locally I will for sure. We have all the machines to take care of you.

no it's an eliminator casting with IDT CNC porting. maybe the name has an affect on the hole in it?

Eh that's an easy fix. No need to replace the seat if the welder is any good. Question is, how thin are the rest

You should only bother yourself with the problem at hand.  If it ain't broke ... don't fix it.

Doesn't hurt to poke around with something sharp in the other ports. If it's just as thin, it will break thru eventually. Why do it twice?

Might be a good idea to sonic test the other ports in that area.
Depending on the size of the "thin" area, it could get tricky during welding, requiring a larger area to be V'ed out and filled.
My experience with welding near the valve seat...the seat may need to be removed. The heat could distort the seat pocket resulting in a change in press fit. Worse case it would require re bore of the seat pocket after welding and a larger OD seat installed.
For sure can be fixed.

Just goes to show CNC's don't pay attention to core shift. They just do what they are told to do. Glad you got it fixed. I had a similar problem with some Ford Racing heads in the spring pocket area. Both heads, same pocket ( position) , had to be core shift. Fixed five years ago and still perfect.

We just welded up every port in a set of c3 heads due to core shift and a head porter that goes by the if it's bigger the ports better theory. Lol

Well this sob leaked!! Mad Mad I did check it with air psi after I bolted it down so it ain't as bad but now I gota deal with it again. My tig torch won't fit in the port so I guess I'll buy a smaller one and see how my luck is at doing it myself. Suspect
