Instead of an off shore crate crap engine, get one of the builders on here to do one for you.  As much as some talk about the 1200hp etc..   they are just as capable of a long life quality 600hp street engine.  Depending on where you live, im sure a member of thid board can provide you with something 100× the quality as you would get from a chain vendor.  If thats a stock crank  a .020 cut aint going to kill what your asking from it.  A machine shop can cut that out and then run a thicker bearing shell.

Hell I would be happy with 300hp.

I don't really know who is or isn't a builder on here but I would be glad to talk to them to get some prices. I would be interested in seeing how much engine I could get for my budget from someone who knows how to buildem.

Update to this really old thread.

I ended up polishing the journals by hand to get groves out as best as possible with the crank still in the engine and the engine still in the bronco. It took a lot of time!

I spent most of the winter working on it on and off... as I got motivated.

Installed new Bearings, A high volume oil pump, and 20w 50. The knock is gone and the engine is running like new!

Spent less than $200 for everything.
