I picked up a tci deep aluminum pan part #428000... The filter recommended on summit looks much different than a stock unit... Anybody ever used one of these 3-bolt filter elements?  The recommended filter is a tci 428501.  Just looking for some opinions or instruction from somebody that has used one of these pans or filter systems.

Thanks,
Jon

I have that pan with that filter but I also have an adapter that drops the filter down ~2". I can see if it has a part number on the adapter.

According to the ad it should come with the adapter.

It uses a Mopar 727 filter, which has more surface area than the std. C-6 filter.

Recommended filter Empty Need help!!!

Post  460bronco January 1st 2014, 6:16 pm

So, I ordered the 428501 from summit...  Been pumped about it coming since last week.  Opened up the box and all that was inside was the trans filter and a pan gasket--- no adapter to drop the filter down.

Can anyone point me in the direction I need to go to get one of the adapters to run the Chrysler style filter on my c6 and also drop it down to take advantage of the deeper pan?

I even called summit and they said everything that would be needed to install would be in the 428501 before I placed my order.

Thanks in advance!

I bought that TCI pan (as recommended by Frank Merkl) and the adapter was in with the pan.

I used the stock filter for a 4x4 Bronco and made the pick up tube out of a piece of exhaust pipe.

I did not like the idea of using the torqueflight filter. It looked restrictive to me. I did not use a TCI pan however.

That's kind of what I was thinking.
