Budget build questions

I'm trying to help a friend of mine build a BBF for his 31 5 window coupe. It's a $3000-3500 dollar budget for the long block. We have a line on some stock DOVE heads but I'm not really familiar with them. Are they worth porting etc? I was thinking at least a 4.30 stroke ,maybe 4.50? We have a .040 over stock block ready to go. Is that too many cu in for those heads? We would love to move up to an aluminum head , but not sure it's in the budget. We were thinking a hyd cam, pump gas, and he wants a 5-6 speed Tremec, any thought's would be appreciated. thanks

There is a complete FRPP 460 in the for sale section with cobra jet aluminum heads for that budget.

For a 31 coupe street rod and a light budget, a 466 with some dove heads will scoot it along just fine IMO.

And a set of CJ or SCJ heads too at a good price, 12 or 1600 can't remember which shipped, if you still want a stroker shortblock. Both are killer deals. Wish I had the cash, they would be coming my way.
