im trying to find some welding magnets , in a triangle shape ??? snap on ....none ...lowes, home depot none ....

Sears and Graingers has them too, 90* ones and some are multiple angles.

We don't use them anymore. Messes up the TIG weld.

x2......i dont know why though Laughing i already had some i use with the mig but the tig sure did'nt like'em. Laughing another reason i dont like to tig!

Yes, the magnetic field. The plasma arc on a TIG weld is small in comparison to the magnet. It does the same with any welder but the arc on a mig weld is so much bigger you don't notice it as much.

It only happens really close to the magnet. Once you get further away it's no big deal.

Magnets are usually only really a problem with Tig when they are placed right next to where you are putting down tack welds. And a magnet shouldn't ever effect any final/finish Tig welding pass since you shouldn't be using any magnets at this point anyway. Everything should already be held in place with the tack welds (and not magnets) before a final Tig pass is layed down over a weld joint.

i actually , found them in home depot this morning ..... had to look myself .... 5.00 each plus had to pick up some other stuff , will be a welding fool this weekend
