A460 HEAD PORTING Empty A460 HEAD PORTING

Is there any key points to focus on when polishing out the ports and bowls in the tfs ahead? I mean besides the rough casting, the sharp edges and the short turns? If it's all secrete, that's fine, I understand.

the short turn is where i gained a lot on my old A460's,not sure on the tfs heads but they're good out of the box compared to mine.

IIIIIIIII don't know. i might mess around and get that 1,000 horse i'ld like to have if i send them to him. Which ofcourse since i bought them from Lem i should be able to get in line. Uma have to check the cost. This ahead setup can be high dollar, is high dollar. But! It is what it is.

The old A heads short turn looks like a 90 * turn straight down. Work out the short turn and the bowl and you could look like a hero............ Wink

Charlie porting is priced right. Hand porting or CNC porting. But don't waste time just have him do them. I know that nows not the time because you wont get them back till FALL! affraid

Im basically done working on these heads. I got the exhaust polished pretty slick. How slick should the intake be? I got some pics but i gotta get them on photo bucket and figure out how to post. Its been awhile since i post some pics.

You don't want the intake port polished just the finish a sanding roll leaves is fine.

A slick surface could tend to have fuel adhere to it and dribble into the port. A semi ruff surface wont let it do that. Not the end of the world just not optimum.

Just rough em back up a little. As has been said, the short turn and bowl will give you the greatest return.

Sure, that's fine.

Most flow gains (most cfm in the least amount of grinding time) are within .750 of the seat on a BBF head. Wink

They WILL flow more air when they are slick however, being a rough surface but, smooth contour WILL make more power with less fuel.

Personally, I use 80 grit on the intake ports.
