Updated TFS A460 porting Empty Updated TFS A460 porting

Post  kjett November 2nd 2017, 10:30 am

Who has an updated porting program to open up my 18 bolt TFS 340 heads? Building a new motor and re-using my heads. Flow numbers don't look like they will get me to the hp levels I would like. While not horrible, they are peak at 444 @ .800 intake and 304.8 @.800 exhaust. Know I need to be at least in the 475 range to support the 1100+hp range. We will be doing all the valve job and assemble work, just need ports worked on.

Talking to several people that have made higher 1100-1200 hp motors, and one of which make over 1200 on A heads. Granted he started with the larger runner, but had to port them closer to 500 cfm to get there. My goal is to make as much power as possible for my new mud truck so I won't have to use as much nitrous. Right now, the plan is to change the as delivered TFS 45* valve angles to something better, as well as some minor port work then re-flow to see where they come out at. As is (and I know it's not always right, but has been really close on my last 2 motors) I've plugged the flow numbers in as well as the rest of the combo and can't get much 1000hp. Not gonna be happy with that in a 600+' motor. Just want to start looking for someone that has an updated porting program so I know where I need to go for the next step.

On what size motor? 1050 is no joke, but I’m racing against 11-1500hp trucks. I need to make this new motor to be well into that realm to be competitive on my n/a and DOT tire classes. Again, while 1050 is a large hp number, with a 600+” motor is feel better to be in the mid 1100’s or more if possible with these heads.

Sadly I’m restricted to a cast single plane. Ditching the old Motorsport intake for the much taller TFS that is being worked over. Motor will be alcohol injected with a 2100 cfm terminator. Right now, the runners have been smoothed and gasket matched to the heads. If porting needs to be done to the heads, I’ll go back and match the intake again. Also, had to cut out the cloverleaf to clear the terminator.

Above 6,000 rpm the new/bigger manifold will be much better.

Lem,

Sent you a message...

And knew I was going to need that new intake as the old Motorsport won’t support what I’m trying to do. Wink

Don't forget the new eliminator manifold too.

That new Eliminator intake is goofy huge. As is I have a 5” cowl hood that the motor will barely clear from mock up and I’m center steer on this truck. Can’t go much taller or I won’t be able to see out the windshield

It's not that much taller, Dont get in a hurry to buy the TFS manifold.

That eliminator manifold is going to save you a bunch of welding and porting if you're truly going all out.

Got a bunch of power laying in the manifold .

Yes, but I'm limited on height. The truck is center seat/steer and as is with the 5" cowl hood, I can barely see out the windshield. Anything taller than the new style TFS single plane will cause me to come through the hood and block vision even more.  I should have clarified, its not a rules thing, but a height issue. This truck will be running as a Pro Mod truck on motor and DOT tires as well as an Unlimited truck on the cut tires and nitrous. Think about what a mini monster truck or mega truck look like and that's what I'm doing.

You have enough bore and displacement to merit a larger intake valve.
