well may put together a engine with some parts i have laying around to run at englishtown AND ATTCO PA  in a 10.00 index class

bring this back up

at current weight with to run 10.00 index thinking im going to need 525-550 Hp
Going to put together the combo of parts i have , still need a cam for this . since this topic i have eddy cj heads with springs for solid cam

the pistons are actually kb 206 and with 75 cc head i have looks to be 10.5 to 1 compression .....which kind of sucks i was hopping more but these are dished

kb 206 pistons hyper
eddy cj heads 75cc
good intake and carb (viktor) or (tfs mafia)

solid lifter cam ( need to get) maybe go roller not sure
i have stock rods with ARP bolts right now maybe upgrade to h beams

any chance of making 500-550 hp with some of these used parts ?? and keep rpms down to 6200-6500 ? and it live .....car will be a sled with the powerglide

Paying for a wedding right now and want to throw this together so i atleast can race in the spring

I will say this at with the chance of getting flamed............... Rolling Eyes

Hypers will hold all the power N/A you will be making, if kept out of detonation and tune is good.

I have seen several sets end up in the oil pan looking like crumbled up corn bread when detonated though on tha hose.

It wouldn't bother me to run them in your application.

I have KB hypers in my 347sb and it has had the piss beat out of it in my mud truck. It has always been an N/A motor around 12:1comp. Kb rep told me with proper tune(fuel and timing) they have sprayed them with a 500 shot. The key to KB hypers living is setting the top ring gap to KB specs.

that little stock bottom end 306 we did that made 551 n/a has a set of KB hypers in it...........domes at that. We did keep it under 7200 so the block would live for awhile lol.

thanks guys ...deff a n/a setup prob use viktor intake i have id guess im gonna have to make 600 hp or so to go 10.00 index at 2800-2900lbs

this kinda sucks balls ...looked at kb website there kb206 pistons .....with my dove heads im around 11.1 compression ..........prob not gonna have enuff steam to go 10.00s ....still gonna give it a go ...with the spare parts i have laying around

have a the same heads, pistons and around 600 lift solid lift cam. the KB hypers have been exellent. even with a 100 shot plate sys . have ran that cobo for 3 years now, in a 3700 lb street / drag car. best time was 11.29 at 119 @1200 ft elev.. have to many miles of street driving and probly over 50 1/4 mile down the strip. probly around 500 hp on motor

For the Few hundred dollars more a set of Probe forged ones cost its not worth the time running the hyper stuff if your going to be pushing it.

For a real street engine the hypers are nice to keep everything tight and quiet.

A bad tuner can grenade hypers in a single pass, however a good tuner can make them useful in a 10-second car and fun can certainly be had. That does not make them as forgiving as forged pistons. As you know your Ford 460s, the engine can indeed be made to live. The important consideration here is your willingness to accept disaster should it strike. Not sayin it will; just sayin'

i run kb hyper they work every good and i also spray them. my build started out as a street engine and i got the bug to race it so i change cam, intake gear, converter and the combo works well. if i were to build a new engine it would have forge piston for peace of mind

I helped a guy with a fox mustang with a build close to what your wanting. Flat top 466, Eddy's out of the box, Victor intake out of the box, Roller cam 265/275 .730 lift 108 separation, 4.10 gear 28x 10.5 ET Drags C4 trans 5000 converter shifting at 6500 ran 6.20's all day.

180 shot ran a 5.60 2900 lb.

That's 9.60s to 9.80's 1/4 mile.

Just swap out the Hyper's for a set of Probe flat tops.

i agree .....just i have these pistons sitting here with rods on them , its tempting to use them . just not sure its going to live at the hp levels or make that kind of power with compression

you should be able to hit your target of 550hp with the right cam with the parts you have. my 460 made 536hp by Wallace racing cals it was stock crank and rods with cheap speed pro flat top pistons, dove heads with home porting, flat tappet cam custom made by Randy M. 1.73 roller rockers, victor intake, 1050 APD carb turned it 6500rpm with out any problem.

this fairmont i have should be light ....im hoping 2800 lbs with me in it and i weigh 180lbs

i have a built glide already ....eddy cj heads with out of the box cnc intake port entrys ( out of box heads)


from the half ass racing calculators on the web i need 525-550 hp at that weight to be in the low 10 second range , id love to be able to run 10.00 index . Car will be a dog with glide and keeping rpm between 6000-6500 rpm but with stock rods and arp bolts i will have to

this combo keeping rpm down 6200-6500 max

going to use a 1050 dommy that i have , is teh viktor the way to go with these eddy heads or am i better with a torker 2 ?
