Crank and blower drive options? Empty Crank and blower drive options?

Post  J.Toney December 18th 2010, 2:14 pm

Just wondering what people out there have used and seen as far as setting up a procharger as far as drives go. Is a forged crank with a standard snout enough for most street/strip apps? What is the next step? Large snout? Does the aftermarket support this?

Side mount.......just teasing myself. I was about to check into these balancer-drives I happened to see on the Super_store site. Don't have a real clue what is out there, but wanna learn

What type of belt do you plan to use? Serp or cog? Assuming cog then you could have custom pulleys made by asp or rcd or the easier route would be to buy a damper with BBC bolt pattern from ati then you plenty of pulley choices. As for the snout, I cant speak of its limits from personal experience about its limitaions but double keying would be a good idea for moderate to high boost. If flex is a concern you could modify a crank support from rcd or others to fit the ford. The sbf uses the same snout diameter and they commonly make big boost with those without supports

I would be going the cog route,if it ever happens. I've searched now and then for a shelf setup, or pics other than on the site with no real luck. I'm going to call TSS. Otherwise I guess, it DIY.

Im putting together a BBf now with an geardriven F-3, The Supercharger Store told me not a big deal. ATI makes dampers with bbc bolt pat. Then pullys are easy, new or used cogs. Or I have seen used geardrive setups for sale in the $2-2500 range. My BBF brackets were $300 to switch from my SBF.

BBC snout and a support if you are going for big power.

I don't think it'll be that nessacary, not very extravagant as far as prochargers go.  Very early stages of learning/planning, but 14-16# would be a basic target I think. Try to make 10 bolts hold on, way under 2000 for sure it looks. Steve Morris has a similar build goin now that I hope to see and maybe learn from. Been watching it a little on YB. Plus by the time I'm done, it'll all be outdated.

Looked at a Steve Morris setup for side mount F2 on a BBF recently. They do like others basically, modify a BBC to fit. Works nice, not priced badly.  For the power I'm hoping I should be fine with no support. Good double keyed crank, probably boss snout. Billet if I want to be a rockstar, but it seems the new Callie's good with a little room to grow. Seems like balancer won't be a big issue, ATI or Innovators West w/BBC bolt pattern.
