I Have a Set of 302 Hi Po Rods .
Look Same As .
Boss 302 But Shorter .
&
They Use Boss 302 Rod Bolts  Too. 

I have 5 Sets Of Boss 302 / 289 Hipo Rods .
& .
if you lay these Next to them .
You can Not Tell Them apart .

I don't remember the part Number .
I once was told that they were Trans Am Rod's ! .

C80E forging number for the "short rod. In '68 there was "to be" a HiPo 302 to replace the HiPo 289. the short rods , C8ZE balancer and C8ZE HiPo heads were made in advance so engines would be ready for production. That engine was cancelled when Ford planned to introduce the Tunnel Port 302 but as we know it too was cancelled ( for "street production"). The Rods were sold off as Muscle Parts" instead of being scrapped. The balancers and heads were sold as 1289 HiPo replacements.
They were not to be confused with Trans Am rods which were LONGER and used special bearings

As GT350 said they were sold over the counter as Muscle Parts, and Ford sold a rod later in the 80's thru Ford Motorsport for 5.0's with the big bolts,I don't know if it is the same rod or forging number but wouldn't be surprised if it was.

I can get to them yet .
they are in storage .
I have to build a new shop before i can get to them .
