I've never had one fail either, but I have seen them fail. Some have recovered to run another day and others where a total loss. It's such a simple and easy fail safe thing to do that would eliminate a potential problem that could happen without any warning. I guess it's just in my nature and 40+ years in the aircraft industry to build something as safe a possible, especially when someone else's life may depend on it, whether they're flying a plane I built or driving my car at the track!

I use the two tap process as mentioned, and yes, I have lost a couple in sbf stuff pushing stock blocks to their limits. once you own the taps, it is an hour and $30 to convert them. the boat engine is definitely getting them..
