head gasket Empty head gasket

I have a 472 ford and all is well did blow the converter last week so I'm cleaning up that mess. But this is my question I've a 427 sbc that lifted the head gasket on both side the tune is 275 hp plate system... i'm going with cometic gasket this time the bore on engine 4.125 the gasket i'm looking at c5400-036 gasket which has a bore of 4.125... not sure if I should get the 4.165 gasket or stay 4.125 the piston is in the hole .007 so with the .036 should put it at .043... have heard that it should be open up with nitrous .060 to .080 sounds big...

go with the 4.165 gasket its .020 extra per side and should help it seal better and go with the .060 to get the compression height up.i would use permatex in between the layers and on the block and heads or indian head sealer.some people don't use anything but with my luck I have a set hanging on my wall were they leaked before startup.sounds like you have a naturally aspirated cam call steve Johnson or bullet cams.you would not believe how much better they will run on the juice Wink

I do have a n/a cam and know that it would help if I changed cams... really cant go any faster without stepping up the cage only good for 10.00 and running 9.40 to hi 30s with the car now
