I think im gonna upgrade the lifters in my 557...currently have the comp rollers.
Considering Morels or Isky red zones.
What would you guys recommend. This thing is gonna see some street miles and strip time.

Gotta be careful with the spring pressure on street driven engines.

I think Manley Nextek #221424 springs are sold with TFS A heads. Someone could confirm this.
250lbs @2.00" and 800lbs @ 1.15"

Crower has the bushing type solid roller (as several others do now).
The regular HIPPO solid roller lifters can be rebuilt by Crower to the bushing configuration ( I have heard)
The next time I need a lifter refresh, I will probably send them for the bushing re-build.

I have had very good durability with the Isky Red Zones Stage 2 bushing style rollers. Came out looking good after two years, two Drag Weeks, multiple True Street and other events and about 8,000 street miles. Sent for check out rebuild, but they really didn't need it.

Valve springs are Isky Tool Room 230 on the seat 720 open at .830 lift. TFS A460 version 3 heads with Lem's CNC porting and 2.40 TI intakes, 1.88 SS exhaust.

Good question. I stretched the change interval after 2011 - 2012 season and broke a spring on the intake side. Big mess as you'll imagine as it happened during a run at the Pomona NMCA race.

So with the bigger cam I'm going to, .900 lift, I expect to be at annual changes. To be safe. I was checking seat pressure regularly and didn't see a chnage but they fatigue. I am adding spring oilers this time as well. We are looking for something closer to 1050 this time with 10 more cubes and the cam change. We made 1019 last time.

Bill, I think it was Chris Straub that mentioned the bushings don't like dirty oil. The recommendation was 1000 mile oil change intervals. Did you follow that?

I don't change the oil quite that often. As soon as it gets cloudy is my change interval. The oiling system holds 9.5 quarts total so that may extend it a bit. I'd guess it varys between 1000 to as much as 2000 miles. The EFI seems to keep the oil cleaner longer than back with the carb.

This is a good topic :
I have anybody heard or used Comp Cams Sportsman Solid Roller Lifters 96838B-16. The ones I listed with part number come with Bronze bushing axle. Comp Cam offers two version of the Sportsman lifters in Bronze bushing or Needle Bearing Axle.

Right now I have the Comp Cams Endure-X Roller Lifters 836-16 but was thinking about sending them back for the Sportsman with Bronze bushing.

Any though or comment on these lifters?

I haven't used those particular lifters so I can't comment on them. My reason for changing from the needle bearing lifters to bushing style was two different failure events one which may not have started at the lifter and one that definitely did, but the result was the same, needle bits all over the place, particularly on the upper side of the piston skirt whoch resulted in an over bore and new pistons each time.

Eventually stuff will break, and while I haven't lost a bushing lifter yet, my thinking is that even if it seizes or something similar it will do less damage than the needles.

The sound you hear is me knocking wood.

Hello bill, I think I'm going to exchange the comp cams 836-16 for the ones that are a step above the ones I have listed. My builder said the ones I have now will work wirh the cam profile he will spec out and I will be able to drive it on the street and be durable. I 'm not going to take that chance and have needles everywhere in the motor. I'm going to spend the extra money to be on the safe side.

Do yours have the groove from the oil band to the oil hole already? I had to put a small groove on mine and have seen some that were grooved from the factory.

Are all if these bushing-less lifters still $1000 plus? If I ever go back to a roller again this is my one and only choice. I'll never run a needle bearing solid lifter again.

Yup...........but $1000 is cheap compared to the damage caused by a failed needle bearing.
