Ok, thanks Mr.C. Yea it's external but it's eagle 4340. I bought this crank from cnc-motorsport. It was turned down .010 on the mains by eagle. It had a orange tag on the snout that said external balance about two years ago.

Just curious, are you going to dyno this thing before it goes in the car?

I wasn't but I may check around and get it done. May borrow some money from myself and see what's up with it.
Thanks

Oh yea. it looks pretty good. I had to water sand and buff like crazy. Can't wait to see it with the motor in it,
extended hood, 3.5's and something fat on the back.
Thanks

The reason I ask is I am beginning the process of building something similar after breaking my 557 a head this past weekend. I enjoy seeing others numbers on the dyno and the track as well. I hope she is a beast for you. What are the details of the build if you dont mind me asking?

It's worth it to put it on a dyno. Especially if the guy running the dyno is willing to help you get it tuned properly. Makes life much easier getting the correct timing and jetting where you can see the gains/losses instead of burning the motor down trying to tune at that track or by using your ultra calibrated ear. Shocked

When you hover your mouse over the picture in photobucket a menu will appear at the top of the picture. Third from the left will be "resize". Just select the 600x800 (or any size but that is a good one) and it will resize it for your. Then just select save.

To post multiple pictures you just need to do one after another. Each pictures has to be done individually.
Yes you just have to hold the ctrl button after the first picture to load multiple pictures in the same post

Skinny Kid race cars make an offset adapter to shift the master cylinder over for more valve cover clearance.

Given the app, I'm gonna take a stab, and say it doesn't have a flat tappet cam in it... A roller cam requires no real break-in per say. I just get it fired, and up to temp, set timing, check for leaks, or any other issues, play a little bit just to hear it bark, and shut it down. Everybody has their methods, but I like to let mine cool down, then check the valves... I set mine cold, and periodically check them hot to make sure they're staying put... Like I said, everybody has their own methods...

Oh yeah, Nice car... Cool

Thanks men. And like Si Robertson say, Hey! i fired that babe up today, Jack.
It was wild. I didn't let it run no longer than brought some good heat to the heads.
I had a couple issues in the beginning with the regulator and the coil.
I havent set the timing yet but what i did do was put the pointer on like 12* and pointed the button at the number one terminal but it seems like it might want more which of im gonna put a light on it. About what's a good timing number for n/a? The carb is a 1250 quick fuel that a buddy let me fire up with. The idle screws are only a little over a half turn out.Do you think it need atleast a full turn? I mean when i take my hand off the hammer it will shut down. I keep it going until i got some good heat to the heads then let it shut down. What do you think?
Thanks for any info.

Mine is at 32 degrees. I usually start with idle mixture screws out a turn and a half and fine tune from there.

Like has been said..... 1-1/2 turns is a good place to start. If the engine wants less than 1 turn the jets or air bleeds are not correct.

Ok, thanks! As for lashing the valves, is it a rule of thumb that if you're setting your lash to 26 that you shouldn't be able to get 27 in it? Or if 27 will go in, you would have to push pretty hard?
Thanks for all info.

no you should not be able to put the .027 in it if you can then you have it set for .027 tight

Since im not a grudger, sure. 580ci, trickflow ahead with the 2.35 valve ported by me and the trickflow intake lightly ported and port matched and gasket matched. A460 block, fordged eagle crank and H beam rods, diamon gas ported pistons. Custom comp double pinned with 7/16 bolt, 839int/780ex, 283/302 @.050, that might be 284 instead of 283, 316/340 @.020. The heads are 428cfm @ 800 out the box so with porting that i did im figuring i got atleast 12 to 15 extra cfm. May be 440 on the intake. I didnt dyno so i dont no how much hp its making but its a lot.
Any figures on hp? 12* initial timing would be about what total timing?
Thanks

What distributer are you using? A msd with a 20 degree advance bushing would total around 32. 12+20=32. I would still check total with a light. HP 900-975?
