Look followed me home from work...
We've been looking for a car for my son to learn to work on/ race.I found this one. I was going to give him my fox body and get a tube chassis but he wanted something nostalgic. It came complete minus motor.Has a tci c4 with a brake and a new ptc 9 inch converter.Headers are for a windsor. What do you think?
How old do you think this delay box is?

I remember a car similar to that car down at my local track 25 years ago. 289 with a four speed. He would pull the tires a foot and a half off the ground every pass. That was back when you didn’t see that kind of thing. Man it was cool. It was white with the blue stripes…that car would look cool painted like that!

I am doing a coupe of mine for my girlfriends oldest boy. He is in college and is working on it as he can. C/4 355 stroker 302 with a solid roller and a set of ported 185 AFR heads. 5500 converter , 9 inch rear end 370 gear.
I have all the parts just needing elbow grease applied.

Thanks for the all the postive comments. Wyatt is pumped about it.My first thought was a Thunderbolt teardrop scoop, the snorkle has to go.I like the streight axle deal but I have no no expierence with them. The front end has all brand new stock stuff,'so I think that will stay in place for now.I'm very proud of my son he is a good kid A student behave's himself and already works at a summer job. Some of yall met him at the bash and Jon met him in Ok.He's act. been racing since he was 5 yrs's old.We raced WKA stuff from then utill he had to have back surgery last yr.I wold not let him back in the kart they a rough on your back.He was very good in the kart ran for points on yr and was third in southeast dirt series on a very limited budget. anyway thanks He'll be racing with us soon. Jon send me the info on the motor.I don't have one for it yet.I was thinking a mild windsor. That is what it had prev. let me know what you have Every thing I have in my stock pile is too big or too small.I want this thing to fall in arond a 8.0 in the 1/8 th.

Re: Look followed me home from work...
nice ride, always fun when your little one's want to grow up to be somewhat like their old man. My son just started last week racing himself, he is 9 and he is racing MX bikes. I bought him a little Honda CRF70 to learn on and maybe something bigger and faster once he gets used to it and better. I gave him the choice of either MX or Jr. Drag and he wanted MX and good for me because it has been much cheaper so far He is also a straight A student never made a B and is a good kid so as long as he keeps his grades up he keeps racing. Now my 18 month old already has the drag racing bug so maybe I will have 2 different ones hooked to 2 different kinds of racing. Gage the little one as soon as he hears a youtube video or something with drag racing he runs into the room climbs into my lap and watches it for hours and always makes the little noises to! He even has the starting line down getting onto the TB and than switching the gears He always climbs in my lap when I am on this site and if he sees someones car he starts with the noises. He will be just like me it seems, already loves to wrestle and drag cars, the other plays soccer like I did and likes MX, although it seems to me like it is going to cut into my racing time for myself it is worth it!

Car looks great. Look forward to seeing him make a pass in it.
Nice ride - Guess on the delay box vintage
That sure is a nice old "Stang.
I figure the delay box was purchased between 1988 and 1992 or so.
I had one...and one of my pals still has and uses one.
Digital Delay is the company of Ike Hamma, who is credited with inventing the delay box and it's intoduction to bracket racing. ( Google searches have some interesting facts about the deal) That point is still controversial as Dennis Reid of Dedenbear fame also claimed the same discovery.
It may still be a fine box if it has been kept dry and clean.
This should be a cool project.....

Re: Look followed me home from work...
We have a nostalgia gasser club that runs here once a month.....that thing with a straight axle, moon tank, stack injection, 4 speed and flat black paint would be the bomb diggity...............

Interesting facts on the delay box.It looks to be in good condition and was reported to be in working order. The plan is to run it pretty much as is with a mild motor. The c 4 looks good flid is clean reported to have about 40 runs since new.the converter is newly rebuilt was sent back to ptc to have stall increased.I plan on letting him go ahead and start with the trans brake and delay box, rather than footbraking.Keep a eye out for a mild small block parts or complete.
I like the gasser /4 speed deal When he gets some expierence and age I'll proball turn this into something like that. There is a friend of mine who offered to give me a 289 stock standard bore eng with a set of 150 thou. domes , a hot rod eng he started 20 yrs ago but did not finish, to put in it.do ya'll think it could manage 8.0's with a set of decent set of heads.I'm guessing the old thing will weigh 2500lbs The reason I keep sticking to 8.00 is they rn a 8.00 h/u index every thurs night at test and tune it only cost a few bucks to enter and they have a big turn out I think it would be a good place to get seat time.
