Hello from North Alabama! Empty Hello from North Alabama!

Post  David Willingham August 16th 2009, 12:40 pm

My name is David Willingham and I usually go by ProF100 on all the sites. I have been on 460Ford.com almost from the day it started back when it was the old single page network54 stuff. I remember when Charlie and Lem came on for the first time.

I am 37 and have been married 14 years to the same woman and have two kids. We live in Blountsville, AL just off hwy 231. I am a self-employed machinist that builds blower cases and related parts for Chuck Ford, who is the crew chief for Mike Ashley and has been helping DSR racing with their blower program since Alan Johnson left.

I was brought up in a Ford family after my Grandfather switched from Chevy to Ford in the 1950's. I bought my first 460 in 1990 to put in my 1974 F100. I turned it into a drag truck in 1995 and ran some 6.teens with it and decided I wanted to go quicker. I got married in 1995 and it slowed me down until 2003 when I decided to start back on the truck. I started doing side work to pay for the parts and the next thing I know, that's all I was doing.

I met Chuck Ford in 2006 as he lives in my area and was looking for a shop to build blowers for him. I was working at another shop at that time and we built 30-40 blowers for him over the next 2 years, but I couldn't really keep up working for this other company as the owner always wanted to do other work. The owner approached me and complained that we were not making any money with the blowers, so I decided to go out on my own and try to help Mr. Ford out. I started my shop in November 2006 and slowly built it up enough to quit working for the man in July 2008. I now build anything that Mr. Ford wants as well as other drag racing components and some medical work.

I still have my 1974 F100, but it still needs to be finished. It is powered by a 641" BBF with C heads.

Here's a list of my vehicles:

2005 Ford Freestyle (wife's car)

2001 F250 CC 7.3 Diesel (Daily driver Hotrod)

1975 F100 4x4, 390 auto

1974 F100 dragtruck, 641 auto

1967 F100, 352 3-speed manual with factory-installed OD unit (my Grandfather bought this one new, my uncle got it when my Grandfather
passed away in 1999. I bought it from him in 2007)

1954 International Farmall Super A (Grandfather bought this one in 1955)

I had the pleasure of meeting David at the winter tech seminar. Also got to see one of his blower cases. They should be in an art museum, because they truly are a work of art! Outstanding workmanship, to say the least. Welcome, David, thanks for being here.

Thanks guys! Maybe I can post a little more since I got back in the 460 spirit. I hope to order my drysump fittings this week and finish building my engine so I can dyno it while I wait on the chassis work.

David,

Glad your back in the saddle on your truck and it's good to see you are making it on your own now and don't have to work for "The Man" Wish I could say the same. I'll see you in October at the NMRA World Finals in BG.
