Alternator light Empty Alternator light

Ok I’m trying to hook up an idiot light for my alternator.  Would I hook the +side of the light to pin 1 and then ground the other? The original cluster had one but it fed through a can/bus. The car is an 06 mustang if that matters. I would just like to use the light rather than having to find somewhere to mount another gauge.
