I have an 83 F100 shortbox that I built a 460/C6 for in late 80s. (Performer intake, cam, headers, etc.) Drove it for a few years and then it sat for about 20. I'm resurrecting it and want to redo the engine, so I'm here to glean some knowledge from the experts. This will be a street cruiser mostly.

I don't want to build a screamer, but would like something fairly healthy... minimum 500hp.?

I'm wondering about building for displacement/torque, without having to wind it to high rpms. What about a stroker with milder heads to try and accomplish my performance goals, instead of wilder heads/valvetrain and associated rpm?
