Spring retainers

I am looking at purchasing new valve springs for my combo. The springs are Comp Cams 947. They are a triple spring and they list the dimensions as 1.645" O.D. for the outer spring. The middle spring is .871" I.D. and the inner spring is .635" I.D.
I can only find Comp Cams titanium retainers to fit these springs. They are part #739-16.....but they are $320!!
I think I could use a standard steel retainer that would cost much less since this thing won't be going over 6500 RPMs....but Comp does not list anything that matches these dimensions in steel or chromoly.
Thoughts/suggestions?

At 6,500 rpm the PAC1224 dual spring will be more than enough.

Manley makes a ti retainer to fit them.

Thanks Lem. Where do I get them springs at? Summit? Do they have a steel retainer that works?

I sell them all the time.

The Manley ti is waay more affordable than the comp stuff.

If you are only going to rev it to 6500 rpm, the Comp #947 is probably too much valve spring,,, like what Lem said.

In any case ... that 947 is WAAAYY to much spring for the application.

Maybe, but I doubt it, if the very innermost spring was removed it MIGHT be within the usable load range as a double.

Yet, the 947 is what Comp Cams says is the matched set for the camshaft. They rate the springs at 681 lbs. opening rate.
The PAC 1224 springs are dual, and are rated at 629 lbs. opening rate.

The PAC1224 are the same TFS uses on the A460 heads. Even with the heavy steel A460 valves they are good for well beyond 7,000 rpm. Comp doesn't really have a spring that matches up with the PAC1224 or Manley 221424 springs so, they recommend too much spring.    
I wonder if the Edel. heads will allow a 2.00" installed ht.? Never messed with them myself.

Well crap....I already have the Comp 947 springs. So if I remove the inner spring, will it bring the spring pressure down to the PAC 1224 spring rate? Does it basically become like the same thing then? We're talking about roughly 50 PSI between the two.

It would be close ... and now MANY retainers will fit.
