4 digit pump gas power ??

Looking for some ideas on building a streetable engine around the 1000hp deal on pump gas. Probably gonna drive the car to some car shows maybe put 200 miles on her a month , then i want to spray the house down at the track . of course running race gas . What direction should i go ? Target compression ? heads? intake ? Would really love to go efi to keep the stock hood on it ?? but that might be out of my realm. Starting with an aftermarket block of course.

same as this but I would try the new tm a441 heads... I know rich (boss429) built one that made 950 on 92 octane... But I'm partial to boss 429's lol

definitely do not want any bling, want to have it look as retro as i can get it under the hood. Plus that should keep the cost down. Im just not familar with e85 and would love to not have to worry about fuel in a barrel until im at the track.

Do they make a retro style valve cove for that cylinder head ? or would i have to look into someone making me one ?

And Bill Fowler (CDMBill) has done it with a 589” with extensive Drag Week use. TFS tunnel ram with dual EFI throttle bodies and Megasquirt. 1014 hp several years ago.

I don't believe that is an "R" code 428cj as it has the 351 emblem on the hood scoop.
Although you can shimmy a 385 series in the engine bay, parts are not as plentiful as they are for the 70 and Later , and it will not be conducive to the long arm of Mr Frosty as plug changes will be nearly impossible unless you get to cutting it up.

Does Tore still have that 70 Cobra, that would be a good candidate.

Nice car Nick, I hope you get it.  Just have someone put a Mustang II front suspension under it and save yourself a lot of headaches.  Unless you're going to spring for a strut front end, but that cost more money.

I couldn't read those numbers on the scoop if my life depended on it. If it were a Cobra-jet car it would have either a "Q" or an "R" in the VIN's fifth digit.

It's already been pointed out thats it looks to be a 351 Windsor car, "H" code?

I certainly wouldn't cut a nice car like that up and put a crappy Mustang two front end in it. I'd rebuild or use what you have if it's in good shape.

the 589" deal certainly isnt , but the 557 looks like a budget deal ? just dont know how accurate that dyno is , seems really impressive for 91 octane ....
