newbie here.

Hey all,

I was recommended to this site by dfree383. This is a little bit awkward as I don't own a 385 series Ford. Sad

I do have an interest and a liking for them though. 9/16" head bolts for instance. Yowzer! I may own a 460 based motor one day. The deck height, bore spacing, strong factory block, and the ability to make crazy power easily and economically are quite alluring.

So what I do currently have is an FE. I have a 428 in a 1967 Cougar. It is a pump gas street car with a solid flat tappet cam. The 428 was putting out about 530 hp and is currently apart for a bigger camshaft and valvetrain upgrades. I expect it to make 550-560 hp with the new cam and more rpm. It was running 11.75 at 120 mph on drag radials on street surfaces. Pretty poor traction for sure. I'm hoping with my new cam and a higher stall converter I'm putting in, that I'll be running 11.30's in street trim and maybe 11 flat (squeak a 10.99?) at the track with slicks.

So I humbly ask for acceptance on this fine site. cheers

I hope to learn more about 385 series engines and occasionally contribute useful info.

When I get my Coug' running again I'll try to post video of the 428 at 7000 rpm. hoorah!
