Haven't broken one, just want to state the following: that crankshaft has, 1) more journal overlap at its widest dimension, and, 2) more total area of journal overlap, than the common 4.14" stroker. It wouldn't surprise me if one could handle up to 1000 hp in the right hands.

Baring Bad machine work or some other issue, I'd think that crank is probably stronger than a stock 2 bolt block.

Isn't this the crank that uses the stock 6.605" rods,are there many of these cranks out there?In the future i would think about going this route as i could use the Eagle H-Beam rods in my current 466.

I'm not sure these cranks are being manufactured any more, ford had a bunch of them made and liquidated them a few years back when they discontinued the big block crate engine program

Thanks i thought they might have quit making them,i guess if i ever build a stroker motor i'll keep my eyes out for a used one.

I'm running one of these crankshafts in my blown 521, in my humble opinion if your going to run a cast crank this is the best one there is. More strength at the rod journal 2.50 vs 2.20, big difference. It's a M6303-A514 part number if I remember correctly. 4.3 stroke std 3 inch main, std 2.5 rod journal & uses the 6.605 std rod length. Ford Racing did use the 990 pin in the pistons with the rods in their kit.

Funny, I've built two blown 385 series, a 460 with a factory cast crank, and my current 521 with Ford Racing's cast crank, never , ever had an issue with the snout on either. Never had an issue in the 80's with a blown 351W either. Sometimes I think the snout deal is over hyped as most guys I know running blown are using standard snout cranks whether they are running Ford's or another brand. Just don't over tighten the belt and put unnecessary pressure on the snout.
