I am not a professional engine builder , but I have built some mode motors . They are no different than any other engine in my opinion to build. .

we will be at 825 to 840 rwhp with the 2.9 whipple and c16 .... which will equate 950 plus at the crank ...... it will go boom anytime affraid

just need to get a short block lined up ...look like the ford racing block will handle the abuse ..... just need to loose the 100lbs elswhere

I guess you got the link I sent you on the 5.8 from 360? That deal on Craigs list does not look to bad, if you could see it in person. I found a complete built one but the guy wants $16K. Have you considered running the factory 5.8 cams, they are a little hotter than the 2012 5.4 ones but I doubt you will get the lopey idle you want? You sure should consider that Detroit while you are into that 8.8".

I want to say people are taking the plasma wire junk out and putting darton sleeve's in for big h/p #'s. too much cyl wall movement.

Another option, my 2011 GT, that I purchased, has one of their 5.0 short blocks in it. It is only 600 HP at the wheel and not the 800+ that you want, but I have not had any problems with it so far.

I have heard all kinds of stories about MMR, not sure what to believe? They have a major feud (or bad blood) with another rival that starts with M. That aside, there good reasons to build your own engine, or deal locally, though.
