looking for advice on a stroker kit

I am planning on building a stroker to replace my 460 dove head engine. It was about 550 hp. I would like a P51 headed, 557CI or so street and race engine. looking to be about 750 hp on motor and about 150 to 200 shot of nos. i will be using a factory block. main question, is there a great quality kit? or should i piece one together? it will be used in a 3600 lb street car raced about 5 or 6times a year.

There are guys on here that can get that for you. Are you assembling it or looking to have someone do it for you?

Why the 557? Could do the same power with a .030 over block (521ci)...

Already have a D1 block that is 40 over, don't have a particular reason for 557? Just looking for some advice on good quality stuff. Is the Eagle forged crank good? Reliable? Definitely want p51 heads

Yeah. That crank is good. Surprised more people haven't chimed in here with info. Do a search on here for some of your questions. There's a bunch of info stashed in here from the past years.

Unless you have a local reputable shop that can do the balancing and assembly you may be better off buying at least the balanced rotating assembly, or even the complete shortblock from one of the engine/parts guys on here.

I've used rpm and scat and the machining on the scat crank was better. I hear good things about lunati. These are all forged parts. The eagle cranks appear to look rough. Eagle h beam rods are equal to scat in my opinion. If you are using a factory block I would not go 4.5 stroke. 4.3 will be easier on parts.

I agree with Dave, you have a .040 over block so have it bored to .060 and use the 4.300 crank with 6.800 rods and you will have a 528 CI screamer with aluminum SCJ's or P-51's and a solid roller cam and Dominator, should make 800 HP pretty easy, good luck

I'd leave it at .040 if the bore is good and do the 4.5..... Bigger is better and it's no more expensive to build it now.

Get it done right rebore for proper fit... New piston are needed anyways... The stroke is up in the air but do like the sound of 545 ... But 528 also sound sweet...

Thanks for the info,had heard bad stuff about Eagle and scat in the past but not from users. That puts my mind at ease about spending money on hear say.

I put an Eagle crank in a friends engine and all the tolerances were on the high side, but everything was at least round. Had a time getting clearances right.

That's why I'd buy a rotating assembly from someone who can check it all and get it right before it ships to you. Will help you, or your engine builder down the road in assembly...

Lunati is my first choice for forged cranks these days. Scat is good too, but more expensive.

I am currently building a 557. I purchased a Lunati forged crank, callies compstar rods and probe pistons. Also bought Milodon 4 bolt main caps and Ford Racing screw in freeze plugs. Got a pair of P51's from Kaase Racing. The crank, rods and pistons are very nice looking pieces. Currently waiting for the machine shop to finish the block.
