Hi everyone,
Whats a good blasting media that WILL NOT remove the aluminum. Just the oxidation. Damn Mice got in the box....

+1 stay away from glass beading . Walnut shells would be the only other "blasting material" I would consider. Baking soda is the best.

It'd be best to tape up the ring lands and pin bores.....just blast the skirts and top.

i remember a few yrs. back Harold made rhe mistake of setting 2 of his in muratic acid for cleaning,that was a nono.i was a little concerned when i assembled it but,it turned out ok.

The sides of the ring lands are not as critical as the bottom of the ring groove ( where the compression sealing is done). The lands can be rubbed on with scotchbrite and not harm them. Wash thoroughly afterwards.

Ive found that a5o/50mix of acetone and transfluid makes the best penetrant bar none. Ive done wonders with it.
