What do a new set of C460 heads generally go for price wise?

New C460's are not expensive however, they are simply empty unfinished castings.

Done right with Ti valves and a good porting job, you will have over $8K in them with rockers.  As Randy said the castings are cheap, but they come completely unassembled with the guides and seats in a parts bag, and they DO NOT come with any valves, springs, etc.

cost of C460 heads , depends on the level of parts and work performed. check the A460 head with the same level of parts such as Ti. valves, shaft rockes same springs/ect.

one time it was alost even money

Well I was just trying to see if it would of been better to go with C460 heads from the start instead of buying the A460 and having them worked but I guess by the sounds of it a set of worked A460 heads is still quite a bit cheaper then the C460's.

If there is an issue with the cost of the difference, then you shouldn't even have any real life interest in any of this kinda racing cylinder head stuff.

I have a completed set of "E" heads for sale with no rockers and if you gotta even ask how much they are ... you don't want 'em.

My opinion and I have C heads the best bang for the buck is p51 heads . You have to consider what you are doing with them if its a weight sensitive application like drag racing you will gain 150- 200 lbs by making the up grade to c or a heads , but I personally would go with the c if I was investing that much

If you're looking for cheap heads the RPM's work pretty well. I guess it depends on what you're trying to do.

imo , The A460

is the best bang for the buck if you plan anything over 1000hp. Costs no more to hardware them than the p51.

IMO the bang for the Buck depends on your goals.

If your looking for 700-800 hp the p-51 stuff is very effective with minimal work.

In the 800-1000 the A460 stuff starts to shine.

Over 1000 hp na is expensive any way you slice it.

C heads require shaft rockers which will up the price.
C heads only have one factory manifold to use. Uncle Charlie sells adapter plates so you have a little latitude with A intakes.
C head require specific bolt pattern headers. A heads can use BBC headers.
C heads can be worked to flow around +- 520 cfm

I have about $8500 in mine and am very happy, but the KY boys are making big horsepower with the new A heads.

Randy, will those heads bolt up to an A460 block??

That is part of the reason I can't sell 'em because they have the "Pro Stock" 18 head bolt pattern meant for the A500 Pro Stock block.
To bolt to an A460 block, the center 10 head bolt holes will need to be plugged and re-machined to the slightly different "Pro Stock" location with 7/16" thread as well.
One of Bob Glidden's better ideas at that time.

While on the subject of c heads. What would the best valve size be for them? And what bore/ cubic inches would said valves work best on? I believe my next engine will be a c-headed deal.

AND, it is only 9.300" deck height so, big engines are not in that block's picture.

An aluminum tall deck block having that head bolt pattern would be best.
