A Bird Down In Virginia Empty A Bird Down In Virginia

Post  DFI429 August 28th 2014, 7:34 pm

Yesterday morning I was out on the flight line early in the shift to see off one of our jets, heading out to New Orleans to be upgraded to be more badass..  Not long after, the regular training flights we were about to launch got told to cancel..  And the sinking feeling set in.  A short time later we learned our latest upgrade had gone down.  As maintainers, this is one of the worst feelings to ever have, with so much effort put in by so many troops..  And worst of all we don't know the status of our pilot.

I know there's a lot of BBF guys down that way - I'd like to ask you guys keep our Eagle Driver in your thoughts, and hopefully he'll be found hanging out in a tree waitin' on a ride..

Search for missing 104th Fighter Wing pilot continues

I don't post a whole lot here, but I have an immense appreciation for the knowledge shared that I can learn from.  I'll be more active once I get the next project rolling, and have something more to contribute..

Saw the news headline this AM. Didn't know the pilot was missing. Sucks for sure.

That's bad to hear and a former jet mo I'm my previous life.

I'm guessing he had some really big issues that he couldn't eject.

It hits harder in guard and reserve units because they are typically together for years. Active duty units poeple come and go fairly quickly. Always sad to lose one of the nation's best. Prayers for family.

You are 110% correct sir..  We paid our respects on base yesterday, all in all everything went well, but it's something I'd rather not have to ever repeat.

A salute to LTC Morris "Moose" Fontenot Jr.

Its a shame that the media has talked more about Comedians dying than the men and women who serve and regretfully die for our country.... Prayers sent for his family and for his crew members.
