Hey guys,,, tonight they were running the Dixie Doorslamers in Sikeston MO. In this series the racers have to run on a 4.89 Index. Randy qualified #2 with a 4.901. He then proceeded to make it to the semi-finals with runs of 4.900, 4.940, 4.892, and broke out in the semis with a 4.882, where he took too much stripe. He beat a few blown Chevies along the way, and did us Ford guys proud. Very Happy

For those of you that don't know, Randy runs a 1998 tube chassis Mustang with a 622 CID C-460 headed engine. Congrats Randy,,, you have a consistent fast race car Exclamation

Randy,

When Mark McDonald put bigger, longer wheelie bars on Jack's '98 Mustang it really helped.

Damn fine laps for a n/a car in a class that has blower cars. They gotta be kinda butthurt about it.  Twisted Evil

You could keep the current tight converter & "highway" gears, add a little nitrous, & hit the 4.70/Outlaw Top Sportsman stuff around the south.

How did they come up with the 4.89 class index/cutoff for the Dixie stuff? Is it something that is voted on by the racers before each season? Or has it always been that number for years?

Yes its getting out there . We are trying to get a little wheel speed its dead hooking now . The engine is not happy yet , got some bugs to work out the converter seems tight its backing the rpms up after the hit and gear change , but it could be fuel related or converter. The engine refuses the high speed lean out , it kills about 2mph which is backwards of what you would think , but the fuel pump rpm is not up where I am used to running tune wise . Egt readings are getting away from what would be considered the normal in the 900's and engine is showing it likes them that cool maybe cooler.
