How much power where you making with them? I'm looking for a set to upgrade from the eagle h beams I have..

Rick they are going in a truck pulling engine... We have had a few fail... Not necessarily the rods fault but the customer wants a different rod... I like scat parts but I'm not sure their rods are much better than the eagles.... Customer wants me to put an aluminum rod in his deal but I have no experience with those... I'd rather stick to a higher quality steel rod....

The K-1's are a chineese forging like the Scat, Eagle, Cat. Ive researched them. So flip a coin....
When shopping for rods 9 times out of ten its gonna be a chineese forging, unless the line you are interested in is signifigantly more than the others.
If its a truck motor Cody, Id go aluminum or aftermarket steel. Those truck pullers really zing. Gotta have the good stuff. For steel go with a Crower forging. Former Fuel racer Jim Barilaro ( Christmans Comet owner) Told me youd never break one of the crowers if done right on gas.
I don't think the standard joe-blow H-beams everyone uses in bracket motors are good enough. JMHO

Yea,I don't really think there'smuch diff between Eagle/Scat in the rods. I like the Scat cranks better though. The rods in Harold's engine were Crower and they were in a pulling truck before I got them,I must have put 1500 passes on them.Then when I sold the rotating assembly to Harold,we ordered new cap bolts and Harold ran them another 2 yrs . They are still in that engine now.

Good info to know guys thanks... I was thinking along the lines of either Carrillo crower or Oliver's... Customer doesn't like the Oliver brand either for some reason... Probably the cost... He is hard on parts... I'm thinking the oiling system is more to blame than the rod but 10-20 seconds at 8000 to 9000 rpm is hard on parts regardless...

I've used aluminum rods in my last 3 engine builds and have had good results with them, they are a little costly but they are pretty good, but if the customer wants steel rods the Ohio HD I-beam rod is a good rod also www.ohiocrank.com
