It would greatly depend upon the vehicle usage.
Is this a 10 times a year street driven strip car, a race car, a couple times a week street/strip cruiser or almost everyday street car...?

A roller would be OK however, with this combination it would not be a whole lot more powerful than a good solid lifter, flat tappet grind ... which would certainly require a lot less maintenance.

I agree Kim,thats the only thing that scares me w/FT. I believe if I was to ever do one again (new),I would have the mfg breakin for me. I've seen them "supposedly"brokein the correct way and STILL wipe. Rolling Eyes

Gov't has taken the good stuff out of common motor oils. Gotta search for it now.

I've never wiped one hyd or solid , I know Knock on Wood  Very Happy I probably just jinxed myself  Shocked , I always took the inner spring out if it used one , oil was 20w50Vr1 and now I put the bottle of additive in it too, can't be to safe I guess. The 552'' I'm putting together for a friend has a big flat tappet solid from Lem ,690ish lift and 290ish @.050 with the edm lifters so that should help it survive as well, I hope  Laughing
