I originally thought 87 was the first year of ego, but I owned an 88 F350 with a factory carb and a cast iron T18. Not sure about bigger trucks and e4od's, but I also owned an 87 F150 with a C6 in it. Hope this helps!

I used a 1987 to pull the dragboat trailer....it was 4V w/C6. 1988's were EFI....I think.

Wasn't it E4OD behind the 460s?....not AOD.

Dave, I know the late 80's trucks (small blocks) had efi motors with the c6. My buddy has an 89 bronco with 351w/c6 combo, so it was probably the same with the 4sexy's...

I was told they started switching to efi on the 460's in late 88. I have seen a model year 88 with a carb, but do not know what the date code was. I do know 89 and 90 were EFI and my 90 had the E4OD behind the 460.

My thoughts would be good exhaust. I built up a 450 hp 460. I used the dove heade. performer intake and holley 750, recerved distribiter all in by 2200 rpm 34 degrees total advance. 1 3/4" headers, cam 276x286 advertised 218x228 at.0.50 114 degrees lobe centers over 530 ft lbs torque ar 4000 rpm and 456 hp at 5500rpms mild port work great engine.roller tip rockers 1;7:1 ratio

While we're on the late 80's. Does the 7.3/6.9 diesel share a bell housing pattern with anything?

Those came from Navistar so the bolt pattern and pin locations are different. I'm not up on the International's to know what transmissions would bolt up to that motor.

Nope. They are just for the 7.3/6.9. They are pretty close to a 460 pattern, but the dowel holes are off location and the bolt hole diameters are a little different too.

I like that body style. Put a 7.3 powerstroke in it and find a ZF5 speed to mate up to it. I've never seen one done like that. Would be cool.
