Anyone have a side-by-side picture of an A460 and an SCJ/P51 cylinder head? Just for comparison sake.

Thanks.

This is a Blue Thunder head with the Ford exhaust pattern lined up with a Trick Flow A460 casting.
Physical size.....the valve cover rail is roughly 1-1/4" taller on the A460.
I have no experience with the P51, but it should be close to the Blue Thunder type shown...as far as general external dimensions..
Hope this helps...
Keith
PS....I just measured a stock cast iron head and the valve cover rail on the exhaust side is only (approx) .300" lower than the Blue thunder...,so they are pretty close to OE external physical size.

Thanks so much Keith. That's useful. Only other shot would be from above and width, like the end of both heads. Maybe not so close up to get an overall sense of how much bigger.

Thanks again!

I'm sure Keith will get you some pics.you can see the ex runner is a lot higher than a cj as is the intake.the A head is very little if any wider than a cj,everthing is just higher up in the head.they do bolt on the same place just take longer bolts.you can use the long bolts from a cj head for short bolts in the A heads, lol. If it is an inch and a quarter taller and the valve cover is at the same angle it will be an inch and a quarter wider.

I lined up the intake surfaces for the sake of this picture.
Of course the head bolt pattern, valve cover bolt pattern are the same. The 18 bolt A460 head is about 1/4 wider at the deck for the additional bolts.
The pic is deceiving, since the aftermarket folks get creative with the actual valve cover gasket flange profile. I many cases, that is to help clear larger springs, rockers and such.

If you are contemplating stepping in to the A460 world, I have a mock up casting that you can borrow.
Thanks

Nope...it is still sitting in the corner. I was contemplating selling it complete with the Blue Thumders...
Rather than putting some of my A heads on it.
Just got a new batch of Eliminator blocks and might build another big bore engine...little more arm. 652 or 669".
