A429 Heads VS Dove-c Heads Empty A429 Heads VS Dove-c Heads

Post  69F100 March 31st 2012, 8:28 pm

I am going to see how much I gain with the ported A429 heads with matching ported victor intake over my dove-c heads with port matched ffr g429 intake converted to a 4500 carb pad heads have a good bit of exhaust port work on them and bowl bend with stock valves. The best so far from the truck is 6.78 in the 1/8 and 1.42 60' time at 3265 lbs.Anybody want to guess what will be the new times will be it will be about 3 weeks before I get a chance to get to the track if it don't rain working 70 to 80 hrs a week don't leave much time to get the track or work on the truck.I am planning to put the heads on next weekend as we will be off for EASTER this will be heads and intake change only.

I'm guessing you'll pick up somewhere in the range of 75 to 90hp

Unless the cast iron pieces have been extensively worked over, I say no contest!

Depending on how wheel the D0VES were done you might not pick up a ton of power, but there probably not a better way to get 70 lbs of the nose.

Jim, you are gonna pick up pretty good with this move. The DOVE's are a great head if ported all the way out, but just a bowl blend on stock valves vs. a well ported set of A429's is going to be a big jump. I'm with Freeloader, under 100hp gain, but like Barney said also, the weight reduction is going to be a big plus too. Cool
