Need some advice on a pro street truck build - Page 2 Empty re bolt pattern

Post  HorsinAround December 28th 2011, 10:17 am

Changing the rear bolt pattern is easy enough to do on the rear when I put new axles in it. The front
Is another matter. Does someone make a hub with 5 on 4.5 or 4.75 that fits on the ford spindle? Err, just found this thread and it answers my question. https://www.429-460.com/t7979-f150-5x55-to-5x45-wheel-conversion

Now, for the rear 9" is easier in the long run to buy a narrower housing from summit/jegs then to buy and narrow one? Just thinking out loud here since I don't have a 9" now. Also, were there any 9" units with disc brakes?

I'm on a real limited budget, so I will narrow my own stock core housing.
The 80's Lincoln Versailles and maybe early explorers for 9" factory disc brakes.
There are lots of aftermarket 9" disc conversion kits out there. None that I know of for the 5x5.5 bolt pattern though.

I just checked and it looks like the Versailles had rear disc brakes from 1977 thru 80.

what bumper posted this link earlier http://www.quickperformance.com/index.htm . These guys have a good product at a good price and can fix you up with whatever you need for a rear end.

Alan, that link to Quick Performance is all you will need for any part for the rear housing and they have the best bolt on disc brake kit too. Brydon is the man when it comes to the 9". You can't beat the price, quality, service, and knowlege. I you want to put in a 4 link, it really isn't that difficult. I put mine together in about a day with some help from my neighbor. I used a common kit, and a front bracket that bolted to my frame in place of the spring hanger. Cool

What kit did you get? Looking on summit, the ones I see have a sub frame kit, and I'm ignorant as to how those tie into the oem frame. Also, where do I start when spec'ing the coil overs for the rear? Should I replace the oem coils up front for a set of coil overs?

Working on setting up the new axle for the 4 link. What should I set the pinion angle at?
