It's official they are building a new 1/4 mile track in New Florence, MO. The new track will be called Mid America Raceway Park, located at the intersection of I-70 and Hwy. 19. The county commissioner approved everything today and the ground breaking is Oct. 22. One of the owners is a big block Ford guy. He races the old Comet that was featured on Pinks All Out a few years ago. Supposed to open next spring if the weather holds out over the winter. I'm extremely excited about this since it is only 40 minutes from home. Very Happy Check out MARPark.net.

Weren't they having trouble getting it to pass, because the big end of the track would have been underneath overhead power lines?

They redirected the layout on the same 500 acre plot. The track now runs in a different direction but it doesn't go under the power lines or crossover the easement road that some of the neighbors were concerned about.

Is it going to be an Nhra or Ihra track?

That will keep them from having any special races.

Talked to Wes Littrell and he's all fired up over this deal. With a BBF guy running the show, sounds like a good central location for us all to get together. Very Happy

I talked with Wes at the benefit car show they had for the track a few weeks ago. He was definitely ready for the new track. Some of the guys that will be running the starting line are the ones from the old Mid America Raceway Track. Really down home good people. The owners are very into Nostalgia racing as well as NMRA open comp type stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if they had an all Ford race too like we used to have at MAR several years ago. Needless to say there are a lot of people in this area happy to see a track like this one come back to the area. He has a lot of neat ideas too like RV hook ups in the pits and I believe the track will have water circulating under the surface to keep the temp down on hot MO days.
