after alot of hours and $$$ metal work like a new roof skin 1/4 patches, floor piece and lots of other screwed up stuff its finnally starting to come around. gotta pay my body guy before we start body work


when i bought it back in 2005 , tore it apart and it sat for 4 years and last aug it finnally started getting some serious work done to it. here is a quick little tour.

I always really liked those Sploiler GT's. That's wild that the roof was gone and the floorpans are rock solid. Thanks for saving an old classic!! Good luck with it cheers king

Wonderful Job Duff! Youre doing the ole girl right. Dont see many 70 Cyclones. A fellow I knew in my old hometown lost his in a fire several years ago.
Where the heck did you find a roof panel for her?

You dont see many 70/71 Torinos... you see even fewer Cyclones! looking forward to seeing how this project comes along!

the roof was toast from the vynal top. guy on ebay was parting a car out and i boought the roof from him. i used uship.com to have it sent to me from denver CO to iowa then me and my friend went and picked it up.

. Its a factory grabber blue white interior,black vynal top car so it will stay that way. Not sure if I'm a vynal top kind of guy but its a low production car so I think it would be best to stay as close to the way as it rolled out of the factory. Altho I'm giving it some F.A.S.T racing inspired treatment. Big aluminum headed stroker but painted ford blue with all the correct bolts and clamps, aluminum radiator painted black,bias ply front tires ,etc etc. I actually had a mobil guy come out and sandblast my car. He charges 90 a hour and it only took a little over a hour to do the whole thing. It only cost $160 and that was with a $20 + tip. He had a 50 gallon drum hooked up that was almost full ,but there where several on the truck so I don't know. It went really fast expecially on the bottom and trunk because I used aircraft stripper to get a lot of the factory undercoating off and seamsealer. A lot of scrapping paid off with the bill being so little. We D/A ed the rear 1/4s and roof after some aircraft stripper.

painted the bottom red oxide like factory.looks orange in pictures. also bedlined the wheel wheels. powdercoated the rear end, have heavy duty poly rear shackles i painted black . had a buddy turn the bushings on a lathe from 1 1/8 down to a inch then hand grinded them to fit. also had to modify the stock staggard shock plates to accept 1/2 inch u bolts from calvert racing. also boxed in my rear end. stuff has to come out as i scratched them when i was fileing and drilling holes for the shock plates and get repainted
