Holley Blue pump, with the alumn 1/2 tubing for fuel lines going into the fuel log, then to the dominator.

I happen to see the pic early in the thread is why I asked, it looked like a regular Holley regulator with just one side feeding the carb.................Combined with a single blue pump I cant see how that thing is getting the fuel it needs.

For starters I'd get a bigger pump and a better regulator.

That may help. Idk for sure. Motor sounds good and doesn't seem to be acting like its starving. I know it could definately could use a pump and reg upgrade though. The guy that helped me build the motor and tranny was with me along with his car. See we built this combo for a heavier 1970 that I had before this one. It was full bodied and weighted 3450 with me in it. Thats why we set it up with the 1.98 planetary gears. This car is lighter but don't know by how much. Best guess right now is app 400lbs. It has fiberglass doors, hood, and trunk. Along with the tube chassis front end. Thats why we think the car may be gear bound just a little.

I thank you for all of your input richter on this build. I'm not sure what these motors are capable of but this motor is not much more than the FRPP crate motors that were rated at 630hp or something in that range. So there may just simply not be enough motor. Cuz my heads and intake are just straight out of the box and this setup started more as a street build and only has about a 10:1 comp and thats deff not helping me. I was going to send the heads to Charlie this winter to let him do his magic and get a cam from Lem but somethings came along and so I wont have the funds for that.

Been awhile since I've been to LCD so not sure how mph traps compare. I went 6.46 @104.5 at Bluegrass Friday night with similar split times. If you don't already have a fuel pressure gauge, get one and verify pressure at top end. I had a fuel filter cause enough restriction to lay mine over on top and slow a tenth and a half. Again great looking ride!

I just dont think the gearing is the issue...........unless the converter is way loose which it doesn't appear to be from the trap rpm. The fuel system may or may not be the problem, but how it is now is marginal for a healthy smallblock in my book.

My setup at 3050#s on gas with similar gearing went 6.0's...................on injected alky in good air (2800' corrected) went 5.60 flat at 122...........31" tire, glide with 4.86 gear....approx 6900 rpm

I'd for sure upgrade the pump and regulator, and even if it does not help now a better build will be hurtin for more fuel supply.

Thanks again richter. I'll check into the pump and reg. I have been wanting to get a better pump but funds have buckled down on me. What do you think about the Holley Hp 150. I had looked at that pump before. DO you think it will have enough to feed the engine sufficiantly. And what reg would you recomend?

Get a Mallory 250 and a good return style regulator............or a big port Magnafuel deadhead style will be fine. You need to also have a good flowing filter between the cell and pump......the screen mesh type are the better IMO, make sure the cell has a -8 vent.

Hey guys, things are getting a little tight so gonna be listing the motor out of my car. I'm having to keep up 2 places for work as I'm in a training program for the USACE and will hopefully get stationed back home at my permanent residence and be able to let this apartment go. Then HOPEFULLY when get feathered out later in 2011 I'll be able to build the A head motor I've always wanted. I'll post up when I get it listed.

Nice car!
BTW, dont sell a lower compression short. You can do a pump-gas deal. Then you can build compression with the cam.
We have a member here doing around 800 HP in a 2600# car at 5.60's if I remember correctly.
Granter, higher compression would make thoings easier. But like I said it can be done with a properly selected cam.
