Tm Ent. VS Kaase Boss 9 Heads Empty Tm Ent. VS Kaase Boss 9 Heads

Post  billandlori March 28th 2010, 8:23 pm

I was just reading the PHR write up on the TM Enterprises Boss build. Very cool build!! Cool

How do these compare to the Boss 9 heads? Are they much the same or is one more of a stock replacement? It sounds like the TM's are more stock type while the Boss 9 heads are of a newer design.

Gonna be a long time before I can afford them anyway, just wondering/dreaming!!!

Kaase has fixed all the problems that the old heads had plus they will fit on all the blocks ( 429-460 )

BOTH have addressed the bad casting problems of the originals.

The TM head is probably closer to being an original replacement although the valve size is larger than original however, they use the original valve train / rocker arm, top end oiling and drain-back arrangment.
Which one is BETTER is totally a personal decision.

BOTH use head gaskets instead of the original "O" rings.

the above is true, jk extended the ehx rocker so you dont have to clearance the deck for pushrod, like the stock blocks had,he also has the first style which the stands are cast into heads, the tm heads is same as stock with added alum, and deck,so is jtk's head, both are nice, neither need the o rings of yesteryear. tm has 2 styles,jk has one only?,both use stock intake,or valve covers, ive been botting oem boss 429 heads on stock,no boss blocks since 1985 or so,this has been a long time comming

both will, and can make good power,

Would Time of Delivery be the biggest difference between the heads? or is the wait significant on both?

Thanks Randy and Rich!

Being able to bolt them onto regular production blocks sure makes it much more do-able for most folks.

It is great to see these legendary heads live on!!

The Kaase Heads take a BBC +.100 Valve with the 11/32 stems. 2.30 Intake 1.88 exhaust are std.

Last I saw the second version of the TM head looks like a copy of the Kaase head in the combustion chamber.

As far as HP potential I'd believe they are both Equal out of the box, providing you get equal valve sizing.

I would love to have a set but I have a set of the Originals on the shelf along with the other components to put it all together so I guess I will have to run original stuff..... Sad

Randy

The alternate design "high performance" TM head has 2.400" intake valves with 11/32" stems.
I think the "original replacement" TM head has 2.300" intake valves, (might be 2.350"), with 11/32" stems but, their website should tell you for sure.

Post  BOSS 429 April 29th 2010, 9:31 pm

people have been asking me which head is better? best?

neither, both are great, J K'S way is to try and make it easier to bolt on,not clearancing the top of block, thats not a big deal, and i bet some will still have to a little, stock rockers fit tm head, can convert to jessel,t and d. and soon there will be another rocker avb.

both made deck thicker, better alum, better where the ehx stand /head bolt aera are, thats where one of my oem boss 429 heads broke years ago, too much lift? no, valve spring presser is the killer. with these heads thats not a problem for people who will be doing a race engine.

-Rich

I sell the T M heads

It's not like the stuff is unavailable ... it's all available so, if you're going to nit-pik about the time frame then you should pick a different avocation.

IMHO, usually...by the time a racer gets to their second or third season...they've learned that to be ready for the next season, they order any custom or non shelf parts as soon as the current season ends. Cool
