C9AA 429 car bellhousing
Does anyone have any idea why a C9AA-6392-E bellhousing would have a 1979 casting date?Did they use them in industrial applications like pumps and generators? It is missing the clutch fork pivot fulcrum thingie and doesn't look like its ever had one.

Just like the SCJ intakes, I have seen both with late 70s dates,

If it does'nt have provision for a clutch fork, then it's purpose is for other than a car or truck, like a pump or some other kind of stationary job.

I guess I'm not too surprised about the intakes I've seen SCJ intakes on marine/industrial 460's with casting dates up into the 90's and have even seen an SCJ intake on a propane fueled generator engine that had an RF4JE casting number it was definitely an SCJ intake but apparently, they had revised the casting enough to assign it a new number.BOSS 429 wrote:427John wrote:Does anyone have any idea why a C9AA-6392-E bellhousing would have a 1979 casting date?Did they use them in industrial applications like pumps and generators? It is missing the clutch fork pivot fulcrum thingie and doesn't look like its ever had one.

It has the provision in the casting its just that the fulcrum itself was never bolted on or someone has removed it. I was thinking that if was for industrial use they would have just used the D7,D9,or E1 351M/400 bell instead of casting another run of the C9 bells. This 1 looks like it has never been bolted to anything,I just thought it was odd that the date was that late.BBFTorino wrote:If it does'nt have provision for a clutch fork, then it's purpose is for other than a car or truck, like a pump or some other kind of stationary job.
