Electric fuel pump recommendations Empty Electric fuel pump recommendations

Post  whitefield July 10th 2017, 10:12 am

My current fuel pump is a Mallory 140 with a regulator and 8 an line returnable fuel system  set at 7.5 psi 950 carburetor.

I am looking for a fuel pump to supply a n/a 650 flywheel hp at 7800 rpm  in a 3000 lbs car.

Thanks Whitefield

IMO, one cannot go wrong with MagnaFuel. I've had others but this is head and shoulders above them. Just pick the one that suits your needs and you can worry about other stuff. Yes, the price may be a bit higher...but you'll only buy ONE. Wink

Another vote for Magnafuel also. Mine has been awesome . I used all their reg and filters .
Have also used Product Engineering which is basically same pumps

Ok next question , what size pump or how do I go about figuring out what size pump I need ?
With all of my other engines and cars before I just guessed at what I needed. I feel I need to do this one closer to right .

I've been running the same A1000 since 2011 (actually before). Street driving, track, Drag Week, etc.

I have been running the Aeromotive A1000 and a Magna fuel 500 for 7 years now on two different vehicles. I have had zero problems with either. Now my brother has run every holley, jegs, summit brand pump and replaces them every year or two. Like mentioned, they are worth the money

Conventional fuel regulators (like the old design Holley stuff) are often overwhelmed and will creep if a Magnafuel 500 pump is run at/near full pump pressure. If this happens either get the Magnafuel regulators, or turn the pump pressure down a little and use conventional regulators.

Mike,

It's hard to beat the Mallory 140 pumps. They run forever. I'm running 2 Mallory 140s on my car that are both over 20 years old. Run one pump for driving through the pits and both pumps when at the burn out box and down the track. Return style regulator on both.

Damon,i've also had pretty good luck with the Mallory 140 pumps. It started sounding funny 3-4 years back rebuilt it and it's been good ever since.

I ran my Aeromotive A2000 pump on my ranger dragging it through the mud for 5+ years and no issues. And it sees quite a bit of mud on the outside and lots of water from pressure washing after.
