62 Ford F100 Unibody

We have a family friend that i grew up around that has a 62 F100 unibody truck. I helped him with it when i was younger and also detailed it for him when he took it to shows. It's been sitting for the last 7 years without a motor after he spun a rod bearing. There have been multiple people that have offered to purchase, but he simply hasn't pulled the trigger in the past. Due to offering a fair price and allowing him to drive it once done this spring we came to an agreement. The agreement was i would purchase an engine, trans, carb, and few other pieces needed to put it back together and he would do the install. Thanks to @dfree i will have a 428 cj motor and c6 trans here very shortly to go into the project!

I have a few low light pictures of the truck, but will update as we get things installed and cleaned up. 475hp should get it moving

Try not to break out the rear window with all that HP and hard launch's. Likely why Ford only made them a year or so but, who knows.

Bill the speaker box is nice and it has a badass stereo system in it but the back bed is amazing. It's a custom oak bed to include the sides of the bed. The tonue cover is solid oak as well. He had a 428 Cj that was just over 500hp in it and it launched nicely with all that weight on the rear tires. I am going to switch out the 28 spline axes for some 31's. The under hood has a piece of polished stainless, the firewall has polished stainless, and the whole engine bay is painted body color and detailed. He spent a ton of time and money on it back in the day. My intent is to have a nice Friday cruise in truck.

A buddy had one when we were in school, mid 80's, we put a 429 in it out of a '69 Thunderbird and added a 750 carb and an Erson High Flow II hydraulic cam. He had to box the frame by the motor mounts when the frame broke one night.

I like it very cool truck !

Dad was able to meet up with Dave aka Dfree over the weekend to pickup the 428CJ and C6 trans. Really nice looking pieces and now we have the big pieces at the house. Thanks again Dave!

I was back in Wisconsin 3 weeks ago and while we were back i stopped in to get a game plan on getting this thing done. We dropped off the motor and transmission out at our friends house that owned the truck. The weather is starting to break which will allow him to pull the truck out of the front garage and get it into the back garage with the hoist. I'm going back in June as well and should have a truck that is very close at that point. The plan is to drive it back on route 66 in July or August with my Dad out to California.

Sounds like a cool trip in a cooler truck. Be sure to take along several 5 gallon gas cans. Folks will use lots of adjectives to describe your cool truck...but "thrifty" won't be one of them.

Well the truck made it into the stall and will be getting washed and cleaned up tonight for the motor/trans install to start. Not bad looking at all for being completed over 18 years ago!

Looking very very sharp with the new paint!!! Did you paint it yourself or have someone paint it?Either way looks very sharp!!!

That's the best part...the before pictures and the after pictures are of the truck sitting in the same spot a week ago. My Dad claybared, compound, polish, handglaze, and waxed it and that's how much the color changes in the light when it's actually clean and the light can reflect.

motor will be in within the next week or so.

Wow that's awesome i thought for sure it was repainted,shows what hard work and cleaning and polishing can do!!!!

Headers are on, Carb is getting bolted down, rear end is built and in, transmission is in, and all the water lines ran. Dad has a template made up so we can make a fan shroud out of stainless and polish it out as well. We are getting closer and will be making some noise shortly. The scoop will have a spacer so the bottom is level with the hood when it sticks through.

We don't have a choice on this one... I fly to Wisconsin on Aug 2nd and plan on leaving on the 4th to drive it back to California. It will be on the road this next weekend.

One more video before making the drive back to Dads

Some interior pics and bed pics as we had to take them for the stated value insurance. A nice bucket seat with center council in leather will get done sometime in the near future in the interior. Most of the wood in the interior will either be leather wrapper or switched out for a cleaner look. I'm looking at some nice billet with mahogany inlay steering wheels though to tie in the back bed.

Truck is looking good,that interior and bed are fancy looking inside!!!!
