My 82 GT

I've already posted few pictures in my introduction...

- 466 swapped 82 GT
- .030 over with hypereutectics
- stock d3 heads
- an extinct general kinetics cam that was found brand new in the box... .522 lift intake and exhaust,  duration is around .234@.050
- torker 2 intake with an 850 holley carb
- c4 transmission with a 4000 convertor...( yeah, I know it's a little on the loose side )
- 9" rear with 3.50 gears
- aftermarket adjustable upper and lower control arms
- strange adjustable rear shocks
- through the floor frame connectors
,I managed to keep cost down by fabbing engine mounts, headers and a lot of the other misc pieces to put it together. At the end of last season, I managed the best of a 12.0 @ 110 with a 1.65 60' on it's second trip to the track....time for some more tuning....

Thanks, as of right now its apart for a trans rebuild. While its apart, I'm thinking about installing my P.I. heads. I think the little bump in compression and the larger valves should give it a little more punch.

Wow! That is a perfect street car. Kudos. It's funny...I live in Florida now but I knew you were at Milan in the first pic. I grew up in Detroit and have been down that track 100's of times

                                                                                                                         Are you going to change the converter? A 2,800 stall and a 150 shot plate would be sweat. I would do some port work on the exhaust of the PI's and throw them on. Might want to check and make sure your headers cover the exhaust ports first, they are a little taller, also need to go to a CJ size intake, or port match if you can what you have now. Nice street car, that has 10's written all over it.

Plans have changed. I think I'm going to invest in a set of heads, cam and intake. At that time, I'm going to have a new converter built.
My C4 trans took a dump earlier this season so,I just finished my first transmission rebuild/modification. The intermediate clutches decided to weld themselves together. I've replaced the forward and intermediate clutch assembly with ones from Broader performance. The forward clutch is a modified 6 disk set up for transbrake. The intermediate is also a 6 disk with oiling mods. I also installed a Broader transbrake valve body. So far the trans has performed flawlessly. Other than that, nothing has changed. Hopefully I can get it to the track before the snow flies.

Well, I finally picked up a set of heads. I decided to go with the ford motorsport scj heads. They were better suited to my cubic inch and budget, with plenty of room for future growth. I'm replacing the camshaft and adding a victor intake manifold and a 4500 series carb. A switch to E85 fuel is also in the works, so I'll have a carb built accordingly.

All of this will be accompanied by a few suspension upgrades and definitely safety upgrades.

Don't forget to have new valve notches cut in the pistons for the intake side with your new heads and cam swap

I appreciate the advise! After researching through the forums, I knew that this was a must. I do have a set of cutters to cut the valve reliefs. I've read .150 should do the trick on the depth, but I need to check into it more. I know clay will help rather than guessing.
Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm running flat top pistons, and if I'm not mistaken, the motorsport scj heads are advertised with having 72cc chambers. I'm running the later 10.32 deck. I know it wont be exact, but does anyone know roughly what the compression might be? My guess was around 11-11.5:1...maybe a little higher??

What cc is the piston ?
how far in the hole are the pistons ?
what is compressed head gasket thickness ?

I new you would ask...I'll have to cc the pistons after I cut the new reliefs, and measure how far in the hole the piston is.

My old 460 with flat tops and dove heads 72cc was 10.6 it was a d9 block

I've disassembled one of my Motorsport SCJ heads. I was surprised to see how much blending is needed in the exhaust valve pocket.
