1994 F250 Engine Question Empty 1994 F250 Engine Question

I have a friend with a 94 F250 with a fuel injected 460. Runs great until you hook a trailer up, then it is a complete dog.
Any ideas?

That leaves a lot of questions unanswered. Everything can be a dog if you hook up enough trailer.

What trailer, how heavy? What gears in the truck? Big tires? Pulling long hills? Truck plain worn out?, etc., etc., etc.,......

Sorry for leaving out some details, was rushing it while fueling up with him on the phone. It has a newly rebuilt motor, 4:10 gearing, super cab long box. Any trailer over 18' makes it fall on it's face even with a light load. A 1/2 ton chevy with a 350 can pull the same trailer he hauls and you can barely tell it is there, but the 460 just acts like it has a house behind it. He has had the trans and converter replaced, put an rv cam in and still no power. But with nothing hooked to it the truck screams.
He is at a loss and ready to switch to a diesel.
He has owned this truck since brand new, and it has always been this way, but now he is using it for longer hauls so it has become a major issue.

If it has been this way since new ,I would look at the computer tune ! Exhaust and fuel psi would be the next along with the distributor . Seen the distributors in those thing act funny and do strange things. Does it have check engine light on or any other symptoms ?

Nope, no light or other symptoms. New duel exhaust. I think they checked the fuel PSI, but I will mention that and the distributor to him. As far as the tune goes, you think maybe an aftermarket tuner would be worth a try, or just dealer confirming the stock tune is correct?

Confirm tune is correct first , then if it isn't fix that first then put a tuner on it. Even if it is ok there is still something wrong with the power out put!study

when the new cam was installed , did a new timeing set go in with it ? was it a multi index crank gear ? Worked on a 440 Had the same problem , unloaded was good, loaded a pig, crank gear had 3 marks,, guy said they set it straight up, the marks were a , 0 and a , o,, once set to 0 zero, he was all good
