You guys make me feel like the poor branch of the family. Mine is no where near as fancy or probably expensive. Goal was to improve both driveability and economy. One of the pieces was an E4OD transmission in place of the C6. I did some research on options, by the time I added a transmission controller that could work on the carbureted engine, then maybe later go to a good aftermarket injection system, I was over 3 grand. I decided to use Ford parts to do this. I started by purchasing a 1990 F-250 with a EFI 460 and E4OD. Truck kept fouling #5 and owner was told it was valve guides. I had also acquired a disassembled 1993 460 with a bad block and had rebuilt the heads. For $845 for a running truck that needed a windshield, I had my parts.

I simply swapped top ends for now so I could get the EFI working and debugged before I build my long term engine using a mild compression (9.2-9.5:1), a slight cam and .040 overbore. I started with the bank fired speed density system, but plumbed up my MAF system and just left it unplugged. Original idea was to use a TwEECer RT and a Bronco 5.0L EEC-IV, WAY1 catch code box to run it. I ran into severe lack of information on the transmission tables for the 460, I really didn't want to have it act like a 302. After bouncing around on a number of forums looking for some information or help in setting up a starting point, I had a phone call one morning from Adam Marrer, POPS Racing. He recommended I use the EEC-V box and OBD-II capability so we could start with the only MAF 460 factory calibrations available (it was a 2 year limited application, mostly CA spec trucks).

Here is where I'm at, 1995 Lincoln 4.6L DOHC MAF, modified small block truck air filter and homemade intake (just try to find an MAF 460 intake hose!)

I tried to insert a picture but it would go in. What am I doing wrong?

Easiest way I know is to use photobucket or another photo hosting site and copy and paste your img code into your post.

I am curious to see how your setup looks.

If you're looking for a good but cheap tuning system, you can get a Moates Quarterhorse for the emulator, then download TunerProRT for free. My 86 f150 has a 302 and I swapped it from SD to a 94 F150 MAF system, then changed the EEC to a A9L.

That's a great idea, IF you don't need to control an E4OD. It goes right back to what I said in the beginning, the need to run two different computers, one for the engine and one for the E4OD controls. I researched it, only a truck EEC will run an E4OD, WAY1 and VEX1 are two I know of that are for an MAF/SEFI 302 w/E4OD. I am sure there are some others as the 351 went to MAF in 1995 and they had E4OD transmissions behind them.

The 302 stuff is readily available, even if your 86 has an AOD, the Mustang EEC is very happy with it as it was the automatic used until the advent of the 4R70W (which is only 5/8" longer than an AOD).

Your link is to a folder not just a picture. That is why it is not working.

Looking to do this for my 460 as my stock MAF intake is no longer good enough for California smog inspections. What all did you use and were you able to have to smaller tubes coming off the main intake to just above the oil cap and at the base of the throttle body?
