Putting new rods in a engine? Empty Putting new rods in a engine?

At the point of putting rods in my first engine build.They are Scat 6.8 with arp 2000 screw.Says on box 70ft/lb w/arp moly [.0062'' stretch] not to exceed.I have a arp stretch gage now what is the procedure of installing the rods properly.

When I do it I check the bolt first loose, zero the dial, torque to the regular setting then check bolt. If it has not reached full stretch I add 5 or 10 to the torque until it does.

I put rods in a vice with the bearing in and zero the dial with the bolt loose then torque 70ft/lb.Dail showed .0050 not .0062 so your saying i need to torque 5 or 10 more ft/lb until i reach .0062? thanks

yep that's the way I do it except in the engine not in the vise.

So 70ftl/b just a starting point then the stretch gage is used to proper setting for each rod?
