My Rule of thumb is 10 psi for every 1000 rpm's ..

I always ran 6 in the pan +1 in the filter. Came right to the top line on the dipstick. Have ran Melling hv oilpumps in every single bigblock I have ever owned and lowest oil pressure I ever seen was 50 but always ran 20w50 vr1.
